A high school senior killed in a traffic accident was remembered at her school's homecoming this week in St. Clair County.
Ashley Cartier's friends at Ashville High School made a float in her honor today.
Seventeen-year-old Ashley died August 30 when she ran into the back of a school bus on the way to school.
Ashley was a popular member of the dance team, and her friends wanted to make sure they included her in the homecoming festivities.
They designed a float and decorated it in pink, Ashley's favorite color. There were also banners with her picture on it.
The float was a part of the homecoming parade that filed through downtown Ashville Friday afternoon.
Ashley's friends wanted to thrown candy off the float to kids along the parade route, but they weren't sure that would be the most respectful thing for them to do.
So they checked with Ashley's mother to get her thoughts. Ashley's mom asked the friends to throw Kit Kats and bubble gum along the route, since those were her daughter's favorite.
