PELHAM, AL (WBRC) -

One Shelby County principal decided to do a little work on top of the school Friday.

Linda Camponotta is the principal of Valley Elementary School in Pelham. She told the students that if half of them and their parents attended a math and technology fair Thursday night, she'd do her work from the roof.

Almost half of the student body showed up so Campanotta kept her word. She spent three hours outside under a big hat and umbrella, answering emails and talking to students as they came by. They even threw water bottles and popsicles up to her.

"I want them to know I'm here for them and I want the parents to know that and we're all here to work together and support everything to do and we believe in what we do," Camponatta said.
