Ashley DeRamus first made headlines in July when she debuted her clothing line for women with Down syndrome.
Since then, she was also named by a national website as one of the top 6 entrepreneurs with Down syndrome changing the world.
Born with Down syndrome, DeRamus fought to overcome challenges, rising above the odds to design her own clothing line and star in the music video of a song performed by Dove award winner Jason Crabb.
DeRamus says she never thought she would be one of the primary actors in a music video. But not only did she earn that spot, the video is set to debut on the national television scene this week.
As for the song itself, DeRamus hopes it will encourage and inspire others just as she hopes to do. It's a song that carries a message of hope and resilience, something Ashley DeRamus knows all about.
"It was tiring but I loved it…And it gave me a chance to act because I never acted before," Deramus said.
The video, shot on location throughout Birmingham, is the story of a young girl with Down syndrome who ask her military father to stay home for a special event she's planning. But the father deploys overseas and ends up losing his leg in an explosion.
As the family fights to recover and move forward, the message clearly resounds: Life is tough, but love is stronger.
"To me, being a Christian, sometimes life can get tough and sometimes people go through things and what we have to do is be stronger in Christ," DeRamus said.
The video is set to make its national debut on the Country Music Televison and GAC network this week.
Throughout the piece, there are different shots of children with Down syndrome. The video's release comes at just the right time as October is National Down Syndrome Awareness month.
"I hope it will change lives...to know people can have a chance-they can learn to be stronger," DeRamus added.
