(WMC-TV) - An off-duty Tunica County deputy was shot in the abdomen Thursday morning when her own weapon discharged.

According to Lieutenant Scott Evans with Horn Lake Police Department, the shooting appears to have been accidental based on the scene and the deputy's statements.

Lt. Evans says off-duty deputy Angela White will be fine, but she was taken to the hospital to be treated.

The gun went off around 6:30 a.m. near the deputy's car, which was parked at the Tulane Park Apartments in Horn Lake.

Horn Lake police officers are now searching for the deputy's service weapon, which is a Glock 40.  They believe that after she shot herself, someone picked up her weapon and took off with it.  A reward of $1,000 is being offered for the gun or information leading to the return of the gun. Call (662) 429-TIPS if you have any information.

White is in stable condition.
