Shelby Co. Man Charged with Trafficking Cocaine

Shelby County, AL (WBRC) - A Shelby County man is being held in the Shelby County Jail on charges of trafficking cocaine, according to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office website.

Michael Christopher Gaspard, 38, has been charged with trafficking cocaine, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, first-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, illegal possession of prescription drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond is set at $276,000.

Helena police Sgt. Chris Rollan told The Shelby County Reporter that the arrest came after a traffic stop near the intersection of Alabama 261 and Shelby County 52 on Oct. 3.

According to the report, police found Ecstasy pills, Oxycontin, diazepam pills, cocaine and marijuana inside the vehicle.

Gaspard is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at the Shelby County Courthouse on Oct. 30, according to court documents obtained by Fox6 News.
