BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A woman was extracted from her car after she lost control and ended up turning her car on its side in an Ensley parking lot.

Birmingham police say the woman lost control of her vehicle on I-59 North about a quarter mile before the Five Points West/Ensley exit. She managed to keep the car on the shoulder of the interstate, and then drove up the shoulder of the exit ramp.

She continued on the shoulder of the road and knocked a light pole over before finally coming to a stop in an empty car lot.

Her car was flipped on its side and came to rest against a building owned by Limbaugh Toyota.

First responders extracted the driver from her car and put her in an ambulance. She was taken to an area hospital and her condition is not known at this time.
