The Birmingham City Action Partnership (CAP) is going purple and pink to support one of their own.
The nonprofit provides free street security, escorts for citizens coming to and from their vehicles, directions, graffiti removal and other community support. They stand out in red shirts and black pants.
CAP officers will wear special Breast Cancer Awareness and Domestic Violence Awareness shirts on select days in October. The shirts, designed by officers Oliver Kenny and Rodney Baker, read, "Put a CAP on Breast Cancer & Domestic Violence."
They say that citizens have asked to purchase shirts of their own and CAP will take orders this week. Proceeds will benefit Shannon Terry, a CAP officer hurt in an off-duty accident.
If you would like to purchase a shirt, please call 205-251-0111. The shirts are $20.
