After receiving complaints, the Birmingham Police Department leaped into action with narcotics search warrants on Thursday. The warrants were executed at 1037 Woodland Avenue and 8321 7th Avenue South.
Citizen complaints led detectives to the locations. At the scenes, they seized various narcotics and firearms. A total of 3 people were arrested.
At the Woodland Avenue location, investigators seized marijuana, synthetic marijuana, heroin, Tussionex and a .45 caliber pistol. Two men were arrested. One was charged with unlawful possession of controlled substances and possession with intent to distribute. The other man was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
On 7th Avenue South, police confiscated crack cocaine and a .40 caliber pistol. One male was arrested on charges of trafficking and persons prohibited to possess a firearm. That suspect was found to be on parole for murder.
Birmingham PD says completion of warrant procedures are pending. They have not identified the arrested suspects.
