The Alabama Department of Public Safety is releasing the names of the victims of a multi-vehicle crash Friday morning in Lowndes County.
Alabama State Troopers say a two-vehicle crash claimed the lives of two Lowndesboro women. Sharon Gresham, 39, was driving and Pearlie Gresham, 60, was a passenger in her vehicle when it collided with a second automobile. Both were killed.
Authorities say the driver of the second vehicle, Gerald Barrow, 60 of Lucedale, Mississippi, was seriously injured in the crash. He was transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery by medical helicopter.
Two other vehicles were involved in the crash after trying to avoid a collision with Barrow's vehicle. Each of those drivers, not identified, suffered minor injuries.
The crash happened around 5 a.m. on U.S. Hwy. 80 in Lowndes County at the 110 mile marker. That's approximately three miles west of Lowndesboro and near White Hall.
Traffic was rerouted onto one lane of the westbound side of Highway 80 but authorities say all lanes have been reopened.
The cause of the crash is currently unknown and authorities are not releasing any additional information at this time.
