BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

She beat cancer and now she's helping others in their fight. Amy Crossland was only 27-years-old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. One year later, the hair stylist is in remission.

On Sunday she held a cut-a-thon with all the proceeds going to Kelsey Hunnicutt, a local high school cheerleader also battling cancer.

"I actually have never met Kelsi, but I heard about her on Facebook and some of my clients are friends of her, and so I wanted to pay it forward," said Crossland.

Amy is now 28, a cancer survivor, and owns her own hair salon.
