The Montgomery Regional Airport (Dannelly Field) conducted a ‘live' emergency preparedness exercise Tuesday. The exercise lasted approximately three hours.
Airport first-responders and emergency response teams from various federal, state and local agencies used the exercise to gain knowledge on emergency procedures. They did that by responding to a simulated aircraft accident at the airport.
The goal of the exercise was to improve the coordination and efficiency of responding units by simulating conditions they would encounter if there was a real aircraft emergency.
Certified airports are required every three years to hold one of the live exercises.
