The newest vehicle in the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office fleet is also its biggest.
The M-RAP, or mine-resistant armored personnel vehicle, came to the sheriff's office through a government program and is on loan.
Deputies say they can see a number of uses, including parades, joint operations, and transporting medical and other essential personnel during snow and other severe weather.
Despite its size, the M-RAP can go regular interstate speeds of up to 70 miles per hour. The vehicle is built to be bullet-proof and is supposed to be mine-proof.
It joins a few other military vehicles in the fleet, including two tracked vehicles, some Humvees, and even a military boat.
