BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

It's not the Halloween forecast parents want to hear: Kids may have to trick-or-treat in the rain this Thursday.

The highest chance for rain on Halloween will be after 2 p.m. and through Thursday evening, FOX6 meteorologist J-P Dice said.

Dice does not expect there to be any severe weather with this system due to a lack of instability. He says the storms will likely be slow-moving, bringing heavy rain and breezy conditions to central Alabama.

In a weather blog update, FOX6 meterologist Wes Wyatt said the band of rain will start to enter northwest Alabama after 5 p.m. Thursday. The storms will be ahead of an approaching cold front, and will slowly move eastward. The rain could hit central Alabama as early as 8 p.m. and move into eastern Alabama around 11 p.m. Halloween night.

Wyatt suggests securing any outdoor Halloween decorations since there could be gusty winds

If you know of any alternative, indoor trick-or-treating plans being made in your community for Halloween night due to the rainy weather, send an email with the details to newstip@wbrc.com.

The FOX6 Stormwarn team will be updating the weather blog with more information as we get closer to Halloween. You can also check the FOX6 WBRC Weather Facebook page and @myfoxstorm on Twitter for updates.
