FAYETTE COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

A Fayette man reported missing last week was involved in a crash and later died from his injuries, authorities report.

Billy Marcus Bentley, 47, was last seen on Friday, Oct. 25 near Hubbertville. Brilliant Police said he was driving from Brilliant back to his home in Fayette.

Sometime on Friday, Bentley wrecked on Alabama 129 about five miles south of Glen Allen. State troopers say he wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from his 1997 Chevrolet S10 truck.

A motorist driving by saw the crash scene and reported it to authorities. County road workers found the site of the crash about eight or nine hours after Bentley crashed, according to Brilliant Police Chief David Oliver.

Bentley was taken to UAB Hospital where he died from his injuries on Sunday, Oct. 27.

The chief says it's "still a mystery" what Bentley was doing or where he was prior to the crash. Alabama State Troopers say they are still investigating the wreck.
