Birmingham approves $2.5 million contract to begin work on transit hub

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The Birmingham City council today approved the first contract to begin construction on the city's new intermodal transit hub.

The council approved a $2.5 million contract to begin site preparation work including drilling and building a temporary bus station while the current one is demolished.

When finished, the $30 million facility will be the hub for Amtrak, Greyhound, and MAX buses.
