The mother of Montgomery's 35th homicide victim is speaking about her son's involvement with a gang.
This, after Montgomery police arrested six gang members charged with his murder.
It has been more than two months since Dontavious McCall died from a gunshot wound to the head.
His mother, Elsie Jones, remembers finding him on Crescent road, right after it happened.
"When I got there he was just laying there and it shocked me from there."
Police say the shooting stemmed from tension between two gangs--the "Crescent Road Heroz" and "D Block."
Court documents state members of "D Block" shot at members of "Crescent Road Heroz."
Jones is certain her son wasn't in a gang.
"Even with his homeboys, they have a group picture when they were on Crescent. And all of them are throwing up gang signs except Dontavious. He always threw up a peace sign, it's never a gang sign."
Jones told WSFA 12 News others close to the crime said her son wasn't a part of the tension between the two groups. They just caught in the middle at the wrong time.
"I called over to speak with one of the relatives and he was assuring that Tay Tay didn't have anything to do with, he didn't do anything and Tay had nothing to do with what was going on and he was innocent."
Jones says her son was always encouraging his friends--even those in the "Crescent Road Heroz."
"[He's] the person that tries to keep everybody laughing and joking a lot. He was that type of person," says Jones.
She hopes her son's death will be a wake up call to anyone involved in a gang.
"Cause they can still see their child, I can't see mine. None whatsoever. And the way he left, I know we all gotta leave here cause we're not here forever. It's borrowed time. It's the way my son left, ya know. And he wasn't a bad person at all."
Even though police referred to them as a gang, Mrs. Jones doesn't believe "Crescent Road Heroz" is one.
She says they have always been a group that protects that area...and don't typically make a lot of noise.
Police confirm this homicide and 36th homicide this year were related.
Jones says they both involved in the same groups.
