A Homewood woman has now been missing for five years.
Nadia Kersh disappeared after leaving her job in Homewood in November of 2008. Nadia's mom has been searching for her daughter since then, and is still looking for answers today.
Nadia's family met the media outside of the Criminal Justice Center on Friday morning. Nadia's mother, Nancy Kersh, did not hold back about some of her questions that have built up over the past five years.
Nancy Kersh says Nadia's belongings such as jewelry, a journal and money are all missing. She does not know if this is being held as evidence in the case, but she is disappointed she has nothing to remember Nadia by.
Nancy says a judge has granted custody of Nadia's son to a non-family member, but the family does have unlimited visitation with him. Nancy says they have been waiting more than a year for DNA test results.
"Who has been looking for Nadia these past five years? We have. The people you see in front of you right now are the only people that have been looking for her over the last five years," Nancy Kersh said.
Nancy says the family has hired Central Alabama Search and rescue to help find Nadia. FOX6 News reached out to Homewood police to get an update on the investigation but have not heard back from them yet.
In 2010, a man was arrested and charged with Kersh's murder. He sat in jail for 15 months but was released when the judge refused to delay his trial any longer while waiting on DNA evidence to come back.
