WILMINGTON, NC (WECT)- CFPUA crews are worked to repair a water main break Sunday afternoon between Shirley Road and Princess Place.
According to Mike McGill, Chief Communications Officer with the CFPUA, the break occurred early Sunday on an 8-inch main that is approximately 60-80 years old. McGill said the repair will take approximately four to six hours.
He said that all lanes of 23rd Street was closed to traffic for most of the afternoon. He said it is possible that southbound lanes will be open early in the afternoon, and that the break occurred in the northbound lanes.
McGill said the CFPUA is asking drivers in the area to slow down and put away their phones as they pass through the area for safety reasons.
