The Franklin County Sheriff is praising area law enforcement who helped catch two men who robbed a gas station Monday night.
The Cedar Creek Chevron was robbed around 8 p.m. Monday. Investigators said two men robbed the clerk at gunpoint while wearing Halloween masks. An undetermined amount of money was taken.
Law enforcement agencies in the surrounding area were notified and given the description of the robbers' vehicle that the clerk was able to provide. A Phil Campbell police officer spotted the vehicle and began pursuit.
During the pursuit, the suspects threw items from the car before wrecking it. Among the items thrown were Halloween masks fitting descriptions of those used in the robbery.
Kenneth West and Alvaro Salcedo Jr. were taken to a Russellville emergency room. Once released, they were taken into custody and taken to the Franklin County Jail.
Salcedo had originally given a false identity to officers.
Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver had good things to say about the agencies who kept in communication and ended up capturing the suspects.
"It speaks volumes for law enforcement in this area that they're willing to get out there and look for them and willing to try to do something," he said.
