Surveillance image of man suspected in fatal shooting
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Metro police are investigating a deadly shooting Friday afternoon outside a Nashville market.
The shooting was reported about 12:30 p.m. near the Lee's Market in the 300 block of 17th Avenue North, west of downtown, between Charlotte Avenue and Church Street.
The victim, 32-year-old Moises Cedeno, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators say surveillance cameras captured video of the shooting, which followed a robbery attempt. Cedeno had been sitting in the front passenger seat of an electric company work van while his co-worker had gone inside Lee's Market to buy a sandwich.
The gunman, described as a black man who appears to be in his teens or early 20s, with a fade haircut, approached the van, peered through the back window then confronted Cedeno at gunpoint through the passenger-side window.
Cedeno was shot in the leg, and the gunman then ran from the scene, perhaps jumping into a getaway vehicle.
Anyone who recognizes the shooting suspect from the provided surveillance image is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
