CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Chesterfield Police have charged the man shot by officers on Thanksgiving night.

Investigators on scene said the initial call for a domestic dispute came in at 6:30 p.m. for a home in the 10400 block of Oak Side Drive. Once on scene in the North Oaks subdivision, officers helped several family members safely exit the home, but Michael Killough, 47, remained inside.

Killough was witnessed walking around inside the home with what appeared to be a long gun, according to police. After 40 minutes, the suspect came out of the home and after reportedly engaging with officers, investigators said responding units were forced to fire and wound him.

One neighbor said he heard approximately 10-15 gunshots.

Killough is charged with seven counts of felonious assault on a police officer and one count of misdemeanor domestic assault. He remains in custody at VCU Medical Center.
