The Alabama Marine Police confirm the body of a missing 16-year-old was recovered in Lake Martin in Coosa County at 2:30 Friday afternoon.
Authorities say the search for the teenager started Thursday. The Homewood teen went hunting and hadn't been heard from since 6 a.m. Thursday.
The teen's canoe was located Friday around midday. Alabama Marine Police are investigating the death.
Students from Trinity Presbyterian School in Montgomery gathered Friday morning to pray for their former classmate. Those in attendance identified the teen as 16-year-old Gray Godwin.
The 10th grade student used to attend Trinity, but recently moved with his family to Homewood, a suburb of Birmingham.
Godwin is said to have been duck hunting.
"I know that they found some things of his, but have not heard from or found him," Young Life Area Director Chris Campus said.
Campus said social media and text messages were sent out by Trinity students around 11:30 Thursday night wanting to know if it was okay to hold the prayer service.
Trinity students say they're praying for Godwin's safe return.
"God says that where two or more are gathered he's there, and he's going to be in our presence," explained 10th grader Pat Williams of Trinity. "We know that Gray loved God and the Godwins loved God, and we know that he's going to be ok."
