CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland Police are investigating a suspicious fire that killed two young girls, ages two and seven.

The victims have been identified as Peaches Christburg, 2, and Garcia Ramsey, 7. The cause of death has not been released, pending an autopsy.

Police received a call at 10:05 pm Thursday for unknown trouble at 15417 Kipling Ave., which was a four suite apartment home. When they arrived, officers saw the house was on fire and called the Cleveland Division of Fire.

While putting out the fire, the two unresponsive children were found in an upstairs apartment and rushed to rainbow babies and children's hospital, where they were pronounced dead. At that time, the homicide and arson units were called to investigate.

Preliminary investigation says the two female children were being babysat by a 55-year-old aunt. An unknown male, described to being wearing a hooded sweatshirt, broke into the apartment and forced the babysitter in the bathroom.

The aunt stayed in the bathroom until she began to smell smoke. She then fled the bathroom, saw the fire and fled, calling police.

The other 3 suites were unoccupied.

A firefighter was also injured in the fire, and taken to the hospital with an injury to his arm. His condition is unknown at this time.

Black on Black Crime, Inc will have a vigil at the scene on Friday at 6:00 p.m.

Police are asking that anyone with information call the Homicide Unit at (216) 252-7463 or text your tip to 274637
