Fort Benning soldier arrested for vehicular homicide

CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Capt. David Elliott, 26, was arrested Saturday night and charged with vehicular homicide in the death of a soldier walking on a road early Saturday morning.

Elliott is accused of striking 21-year-old Pfc. Austin McReynolds with a car on Tylertown Road in Clarksville.

McReynolds' body was discovered by a pedestrian at 5:11 a.m. Saturday.

Elliott was arrested Saturday night and charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence and driving on a revoked or suspended license.

McReynolds was stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.

Elliot was stationed at Fort Benning in Georgia.
