Elmore County is upgrading its emergency operations center. Tuesday, county and emergency management officials broke ground on the new Elmore County Emergency Operations Center.
The facility is located across from the judicial complex on Highway 231.
It has taken numerous agencies, millions of dollars and several years to make the project a reality.
"It's going to increase and enhance the communication and collaboration of all public safety agencies, along with our non profit agencies and volunteer agencies in the county to better serve, especially in the major disasters or major emergency situations in the county," says Eric Jones with the county EMA office.
Construction on the facility is slated to begin in January and will take 12 to 15 months to complete.
