A Valdosta man has been arrested in connection with what police call inappropriate contact with a child under 16.
Michael Kent Thompson, 60, is charged with four counts of Child Molestation, one count of Aggravated Child Molestation, four counts of Enticing a Child for Indecent Purposes, one count of Aggravated Sexual Battery, two counts of Solicitation of Sodomy, one count of Obscene Telephone Contact, and one count of Electronically Furnishing Obscene Material to a Minor.
According to a report, Thompson was arrested on December 12th in Valdosta. He was employed by the Valdosta City School system in a non-teaching capacity.
Investigators say they do not believe there are any other victims in the case.
According to a Valdosta City Schools spokesperson, Michael Thompson was a warehouse clerk for Valdosta City Schools from June 1999 until June 2010, when his position was phased out due to a reduction in force.
Thompson was rehired on November 15, 2010 as a general maintenance employee. A release says his job duties did not require him to interact with students.
School administrators said Thompson has been released from employment with Valdosta City Schools.
