Fmr. Childersburg fire captain to be laid to rest in Sylacauga

SYLACAUGA, AL (WBRC) -

A former Childersburg fire captain killed in an arson fire will be laid to rest this weekend.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 at Sylacauga First Assembly off of Highway 280. Little's funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20 at the same location.

Lt. Jeff Little died while fighting a fire at a vacant home in Waycross, Ga.

Authorities have ruled the fire that killed Little as an arson and have arrested two suspects. Waycross Police says that Zachery Thompson, 17, and Ronnie Cranford, 23, started the fire last Friday night. They have been charged with murder and arson.

Little served with the Childersburg Fire Department for 17 years before working with the Waycross Fire Department for 12 years.
