U.S. Post Offices will be open on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. But some offices will have shorter retail lobby hours and will close at noon.
Mail will be delivered on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 just like any other Tuesday. The changed hours for those days will be posted at each post office. Commercial customers can check with their Business Mail Entry Units for hours on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.
For more details about specific post office hours, go to USPS.com or call 800.ASK.USPS. Mail should go into blue mailboxes before noon for early pickup on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31. For the latest holiday information, go to: usps.com/holidaynews. Customers needing postal services later that day are encouraged to contact their local Postmaster, according to a USPS news release. Post Offices will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
Only Express Mail will be delivered in most major areas on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Post Offices will resume regular business hours on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.
