Baby tests positive for cocaine in Alabaster

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office says they have arrested an Alabaster woman after her child was found to have traces of cocaine in its bloodstream.

The test was done in September, when the baby was born. The child is said have a serious physical injury from exposure to the drug.

33-year-old Teresa Harris faces a charge of chemical endangerment of a child. Harris was booked into the Shelby County Jail and was released on a $30,000 bond.

Harris has a preliminary hearing on January 15.
