Birmingham resident Lakisha Austin's story is not uncommon this Christmas season. She is one of thousands of Americans to ship presents through UPS and not have them not show up in time for the big day.
"I still have not received them yet, for my daughter and my son, and they are very disappointed," said Austin. "It makes me feel bad because I placed an order thinking it would be there on time and it's not."
In a statement, UPS said in part, "The volume of air packages in our system exceeded the capacity of our network immediately preceding Christmas so some shipments were delayed."
FEDEX also says they had some late deliveries but called them "isolated incidences."
"I made a payment on my debit card and they got the money right away, I need my package," Austin said.
So what can you do if you had a shipment delayed? A UPS spokesperson told FOX6 if you paid for shipping air and international packages through UPS, they will give you a refund.
However if you bought something through a retailer, which included shipping, then you'll have to contact that company to get your money back.
