PHIL CAMPBELL, AL (WAFF) -

A man was arrested and charged with twelve counts of animal cruelty in Franklin County on Saturday.

Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver reported that deputies received a call from a neighbor who noticed dead and unhealthy animals on someone's property. Authorities said that when deputies arrived, they found four dead animals, including three horses and a mule.

Deputies said the animals had no feed, the pasture was in bad condition and only water was available. The other unhealthy animals were horses and mules.

Sheriff Oliver said Larry Burleson, 61, of Phil Campbell was arrested on Saturday and charged with twelve counts of animal cruelty. He was released from jail Monday on a $6,000 bond.
