The New Year is here - which means another First Night Charlotte - is history.
Charlotte Center City Partners and WBTV teamed up to put on 2013 First Night celebrations at Romare Bearden Park.
It was the first time the New Year's Eve bash was held at the park, which opened in September.
The last day of the year started with the kids having a good time. Then the adults took over.
According to organizers, 12,500 people came out.
Moira Quinn, of Center City Partners, said "McDonald's First Night Kids and WBTV First Night Charlotte were extremely successful events. The move to Romare Bearden Park was well received by all attendees and the structure of the park worked brilliantly for both events."
Charlotte Mecklenburg Police said there were no major problems.
According to a spokesperson for the City of Charlotte, five adults were arrested and the charges included intoxication and disruptive and trespassing.
Police say three juveniles were arrested - two were cited for curfew violations, and one allegedly assaulted a police officer. CMPS said the officer was not seriously injured.
