Editorial: Homewood Patriots perform in Rose Bowl Parade

The following is an editorial from FOX6 WBRC-TV GeneralManager Lou Kirchen, first aired on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014...

A big shout-out to our own Homewood Patriot Band of Homewood, Alabama for their outstanding performance in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California on New Year's Day. Anyone who has been in a marching band knows the hours of hard work, the dedication involved in creating a first-rate performance and theirs was just that!

I love a parade. I think many of us do and probably each of us has his or her favorite. Mine, without a doubt, is the Rose Parade with its spectacular flower-laden floats and its sharp marching bands from around the country and around the world. What an honor to be asked to participate in what has become a New Years Day tradition.

Watching the Rose Parade is always a treat and this year's was especially wonderful thanks, in part, to the Homewood Patriot Band! Congratulations for a job well-done.
