MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

About 100 soldiers from the Tennessee Army National Guard 269th Military Police Company in Murfreesboro were deployed Monday in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

"I think it's pretty important what we're doing," said Guardsman Aaron Johnson.

Johnson said leaving his new wife and new baby is going to be tough, but duty calls.

"I'm going to miss my family, but it should be a good experience," he said.

The unit is heading to Fort Bliss, TX, for training. Where they go after that, they can't talk about.

Still, many knew this day would come.

"That's the nervous part, I don't really know. I'm excited to go, but I don't know about it," said Guardsman Matthew Tilton.

"It's our first deployment, and we're going through it together. It's been tough, but he's excited. It's what he wants to do - we'll get through it," said wife Nolna Tilton.

Leaving their families is not the only sacrifice the soldiers will to face. Many, if not all, of them are leaving their jobs, leaving many businesses to sacrifice as well.

About 170 soldiers from the same unit deployed to Iraq in 2008.

Since Sept. 11, 2001, more than 2,800 soldiers from the Tennessee Army National Guard have been deployed overseas.
