Man accused of biting Tuscaloosa deputy during traffic stop

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

A Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's deputy was bitten during a traffic stop.

Jesse Barnett was pulled over Monday around 5 p.m. at the intersection of Daffron Road and Highway 82 East because the deputy suspected he was drunk.

When the deputy went ot Barnett's car, police say Barnett got a gun from the glove department and pointed it at the deputy.

A struggle began and that's when police say Barnett bit the deputy on the arm. Other deputies were called in to help and that's when investigators say Barnett reached for another weapon in the car.

Barnett was tased and taken to DCH for treatment. He is charged with assault and DUI, according to Tuscaloosa Chief Deputy Ron Abernathy.
