JACKSON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

Jackson County deputies arrested a man who they said left his five-year-old in a vehicle while he went hunting.

29-year-old Brandon Mark Chambers of Trenton GA is charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Jackson County authorities said they were alerted to the Flat Rock area after the child made a call using the OnStar vehicle communication service, telling operators he was cold and hungry early Wednesday evening.

The child was handed over to other families by the Department of Human Resources.

Chambers was released on a $500 bond.
