On Thursday night, a group of parents took their concerns about buses and other budget cuts to Hoover School Board members. At the meeting, parents asked the board to get them the cost sooner than later.
Many of the parents have been getting together and finding areas the district could cut to try to fix its large deficit. Parents asked board members if they would consider some of their ideas when making final decisions. One board member cautioned parents to think about the implications to some of the cuts that would have to be made.
Superintendent Andy Craig says this has all been a process and originally they did not know they could charge a fee for bus service.
"I don't think anybody has really sought that sort of remedy and we started trying to seek that remedy. We bumped our heads on a few things, and continue to bump our heads and now we believe the legal standing is there to do it," said Craig.
Craig is hoping to have the fee figured out soon for parents.
There is also a three hour workshop on January 23rd from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and parents are invited to attend.
