COOKEVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A Midstate mother is in big trouble after allegedly leading police on a chase with her children inside the car last week.

Police say Balinda Wittenburg was suspected of shoplifting approximately $100 worth of merchandise from the Cookeville Walmart.

She was eventually stopped by police, and officers say three of the four children in the vehicle were not wearing seat belts.

Wittenburg was charged with shoplifting and reckless endangerment.

The Herald-Citizen says the Department of Children's Services was called and Wittenburg was taken to the Putnam County Jail.

The children were not hurt during the incident.
