A Hazmat team was called to Nashville Electric Service headquarters Monday morning after white powder was found inside an envelope.
An employee at the billing department in the Church Street office opened the envelope and discovered the loose, powdery substance about 7:30 a.m.
Ten employees were decontaminated, as was the area of the building where the envelope was found. None of the employees was injured.
"We took precautions. They didn't have any symptoms. Nobody was sick or anything like that. This is all pretty much precautionary," said Kim Lawson, Deputy Chief of the Nashville Fire Department.
NES says preliminary tests did not detect anything suspicious from the powder.
The white powder is being sent to a lab for further testing.
