DUBLIN, CA (KPIX/CNN) – A Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) police officer was accidentally shot and killed Tuesday by a fellow BART officer.
Alamedia County, CA Sheriff's Department Sergeant J.D. Nelson says it happened during a probation search in Dublin, CA.
"During the search here at the apartment one of the BART officers was shot and it appears he was shot accidentally by one of the other BART officers on the scene," Nelson said. "So at this point there, there is no outstanding suspect and the BART officer was transported to the hospital where he succumbed from his injuries."
Nelson said probation searches are part of the job for Bart officers.
