A spokesperson for the Birmingham Police Department says the city is not towing cars that were abandoned by drivers seeking shelter from the cold.
Lt. Sean Edwards says Birmingham officers have worked diligently through the night. 189 accident reports and 282 calls for service were made in Birmingham. Many officers have not had a shift change since beginning work on Tuesday morning.
Edwards says no cars will be towed, especially during the winter storm. Some cars had to be moved to allow for first responders and sand trucks to be able to access the roads. If your car had to be moved, it will be moved to the side of the road near where it had been left.
Cars with minor damage will possibly have delayed reports. Severely damaged or flipped cars will be retrieved with a wrecker service.
