A Clements High School student faces disciplinary action after taking a picture with a cadaver during a science field trip.
Limestone County administrators confirmed Tuesday that the student recently visited UAB with other students for a field trip. The students were brought into a room where cadavers are present. The student took a photo of themselves with one of the cadavers and then posted the picture to social networking site Instagram.
The picture was pulled from Instagram after someone emailed school administrators about the post Tuesday morning.
UAB released a statement about the incident Tuesday:
"Tours of our facilities to introduce students – primarily high school seniors – to the teaching and research we do, play an important role in educating future scientists and doctors. Our policies require discretion and respect in our human anatomy facilities. No phones are allowed, no photos are to be taken, and faces of cadavers are covered. A student was made explicitly aware of these policies and breached them. This kind of disrespect is unacceptable and very disappointing. We will review our processes to ensure this does not happen again."
The school's administration is meeting to discuss disciplinary action with the student.
