(WMC-TV) - A man is dead and another is in the hospital after an early morning shooting in North Memphis. As police search for suspects, neighbors are fed up with the violence in their community.
Paramedics and police officers converged on Dellwood Avenue Sunday morning after the two men were shot.
"You heard the gunshots, I mean, it seemed like a war going on out here," said a neighbor who asked to remain anonymous. She added that the sound of gunfire and commotion caused by a car pulling into a driveway woke her up around 5 a.m.
"I heard the car streaking down the street and I guess he bust his tire when he got up in the yard and he almost ran over the house with the car," she added.
The neighbor did not look outside to see what was happening, but she said it sounded as though the two victims were shot somewhere else, then driven to Dellwood Avenue where they were found by police.
Investigators have very little information about who is responsible for the shooting, but they hope someone will call Crime Stoppers with a tip.
The man who survived the shooting is being treated at The MED. The identity of the man who was killed has not been released.
Neighbors are still shaken up, and while the woman who spoke to Action News 5 says this is not the first shooting that has happened in her neighborhood, she is praying it is the last.
