(WMC-TV) - A 19-year-old mother was killed in January, and family members say they will not rest until someone is charged.
Annette Stewart is raising her granddaughter's 1-year-old daughter, just like she raised her granddaughter, Shakerri Stewart-Dupree.
"I just want justice for her. We got this little baby who won't even know her mother. I had three of them who didn't know their mother," said Stewart.
Teddy bears mark the spot where 19-year-old Stewart-Dupree who was pregnant, died. The teenager died after the car she was in slammed into trees, kept going and hit a house.
Family members say the driver, who they believe is named Duke, ran off.
"It's people who didn't get hurt they know what happened. They just don't want to come forward," said the victim's sister, Kashundra Stewart.
Family members say someone in the car lied and said someone else was driving making it difficult for police to make an arrest. They say police are waiting on the results of DNA tests, but they fear it may not be enough.
Stewart-Dupree's grandmother says she can't go down the street because of the nightmare of what happened to her granddaughter.
"I just need him caught. He can tell me something. I need something cause I can't go on with out nothing."
