TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

Tuscaloosa honored some of the best in West Alabama law enforcement Thursday.

Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange was on hand today to present the Tuscaloosa Exchange Club Office of the Year awards.

Northport officer Cody Sullivan was recognized for capturing a suspect after an armed robbery.

"something told me to stay in the area. Me and my trainee turned up a street in a neighborhood and seen the guy run across the street, run across the woods and we just happened to be in the right place at the right time."

Others honored include Drew Clements with Tuscaloosa Police, Ron Kirkland with UA Campus Police and Sgt. Kenny Shipman with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Department and State Trooper Brett Christian.
