JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics arrested a Texas man over the weekend, and charged him with cocaine distribution. Twenty-five year old Charles A. Skelly is charged with one count of possession of a kilogram of cocaine with intent to distribute.

"A kilogram of cocaine is slightly more than two pounds of the controlled substance and has a wholesale value of approximately $34,000," said MBN Enforcement Commander Lt. Col. Mike Perkins. "But, when reduced to the smaller quantities typically sold on the street for $100 per gram, it has an estimated street value of more than $100,000."

Skelly's arrest came after a weeklong investigation by the MBN, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, with assistance from the Oktibbeha County Sheriff Department.

It stems from an investigatory stop made February 15 in Starkville, said Lt. Col. Perkins.
