Radio station WLWI is encouraging Montgomery area listeners to tune in Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. for its annual County Cares for St. Jude Kids Radiothon.
This radiothon is raising money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a top center for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other deadly childhood diseases.
St. Jude is internationally recognized for its pioneering research and treatment of children with cancer and other deadly diseases and has treated children from all 50 states and around the world.
The hospital's research has helped push overall survival rates for childhood cancer from less than 20 percent when the institution opened to almost 80 percent today. It is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children, and no family ever pays St. Jude for care.
