In the past month, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says they have received several fake 911 calls from the same phone number.
Each time someone pulls a stunt like that, it wastes law enforcement resources and ends up costing you taxpayer dollars. The latest incident happened yesterday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. A woman claimed she had been kidnapped and was being held in the basement of a home on Center Point Parkway.
Deputies shut down the road and conducted a door to door search. Authorities returned the woman's phone call and determined it was a hoax.
Making false 911 calls is a felony.
