BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

The Gadsden City Council votes to raise the salaries for the next mayor, and the next council.

The mayor's salary moves from $90,000 to $98,000 a year, keeping it 3% above the salary of the highest paid city employee.

Since the council has a salary set as a percentage of the mayor's salary, the new council members will get a raise as well.
