LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The Lawrence County school system has beennamed in a $100,000 lawsuit. Parents said their child was choked by anotherstudent while a teacher browsed the internet, then suspended when he foughtback.

According to the lawsuit, the incidenthappened at Lawrence Middle School on Feb. 27. The suit claims a child with ahistory of behavioral problems attacked the seventh grader in P.E. class whilethe teacher left the gym.

Attorneys said the child was pushed against awall and choked, then started hitting his attacker in an attempt to break free.When the teacher returned and broke up the fight, both students were suspended.

Lawrence County Schools was reached forcomment, but no response has been made at this time.
